How long is it going to take to resolve my slip and fall injury claim in Southwest Florida?
Answer:
The amount of time that it can take to resolve your slip and fall injury claim in Florida can really vary. Sometimes an insurance company will come right away to the table and they’ll want to get the case settled. We’ve had clients who were able to settle the case within two to three months after the accident happens, but that’s really a rarity. More likely than not, you’ll have to go through a few months process of getting your medical treatment, and then we get to the point where your medical treatment’s complete and we can send a special damages or demand letter to the insurance company. That can then settle the case within the next couple of months. If that doesn’t settle it, then you have to file a lawsuit.
Oftentimes in slip and fall type of injury cases, the insurance company will try to string the case out and try to make you file a lawsuit because they understand some attorneys will actually tell their clients to walk away from the case because the attorney’s not willing to file the lawsuit. The easy answer is sometimes we can get these cases settled within a matter of months, but oftentimes, in a slip and fall case, you’ll have to file the lawsuit and then go through that litigation process, which can take several more months.
